Creating the visual identity

Finding a roommate can be difficult. House Buddy was developed as a way to increase the success rate of your roomates. Based on the model of a dating app, the brand was targeted to a young, motivated audience that needed bright colors, friendly verbiage, and a welcoming tone.

  • Through market research, the use of personas, and following a user journey, my team was able to develop engaging elements that fit our audience. These were geometric shapes, game-like interaction points, hand-written doodles, and a friendly brand tone.

  • Integrating a dating app style matching technology helped us connect to our audience, which was mid-20s to mid-30s. Interaction points such as personality quizzes, brightly colored buttons, chat rooms, and swiping profiles are the most successful for this age group. User engagement from the log-in to the match was our main goal

  • The visual identity was created in Adobe Illustrator. The wireframing and app concepts were developed in Figma, using their prototyping tool to create a realistic path through the app.
